Homemade gingerbread with gourmet spices

Nothing beats homemade gingerbread for bringing the festive aroma into your kitchen! This version uses MerveilleNature's simple and practical gingerbread spice mix for a balanced and deliciously fragrant taste.

Ingredients (for a 25cm mold)

  • 100g of soft butter

  • 175 g of sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 100 ml of honey

  • 1 tablespoon of cold water

  • 125 ml of 18% fresh cream

  • 250 g of wheat flour

  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda

  • 2 teaspoons of cocoa

  • 20g of MerveilleNature gingerbread spice mix

  • 100g of dried fruit (chopped walnuts, raisins, dried cranberries)

Preparing gingerbread

  1. Cream the butter and sugar : whisk the butter with the sugar until you get a creamy mixture.

  2. Add the liquid and dry ingredients : incorporate the egg yolks (reserve the whites), honey, water, cream, flour (reserve 1 teaspoon), baking soda, cocoa, and gingerbread spice mix. Mix until you obtain a smooth batter.

  3. Incorporate the dried fruit : gently mix the dried fruit with the reserved flour and then add them to the dough.

  4. Whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form: gently fold them into the batter for a lighter texture.

  5. Baking : Pour the batter into a rectangular baking tin (approximately 25 cm) lined with baking paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C for approximately 60 minutes. Check for doneness with a knife.

  6. Cooling : allow to cool slightly before unmolding and cutting.

Tips for a perfect gingerbread

  • For even more flavor, let the bread rest for 24 hours wrapped in cling film before enjoying it.

  • You can add a few slices of candied orange or citrus peels to vary the flavors.

  • Store it in an airtight container to keep it soft for several days.
